5 positive affirmation poses for kids

It’s officially back to school! I hope your kids are adjusting well and settling into routines. Our fall classes begin this week for ages 3-5, 5-10 and 9-12, so be sure to sign up for your class!

Ages 3-5

  • Tuesday, 10-10:45am at Perinton Rec

  • Friday, 11-11:45am at the studio

Ages 5-10

  • Tuesday, 4:30-5:15pm at the studio (option for you to take an Active Vinyasa Flow at the same time in the room next door)

Ages 9-12

  • Wednesday, 5-5:45pm at the studio

  • Tween Yoga + Craft workshop, Sunday, 9/18, 11:30am-1pm at the studio

With this new season, I’ve been revisiting articles from my kids yoga teacher training about how much yoga benefits kids during seasons of change. As they navigate academics, friendships, and new routines, it can all be a lot to get used to! Without a toolbox filled with techniques, I know firsthand how tricky it all can be. Kids yoga can help kids during the school year (and well, really anytime!) It helps them release energy, increase their immune system and self-regulation skills, and gives them a great foundation for years to come.

So in that spirit, I wanted to share these 5 poses for you to use with your kids! Fun and positive — enjoy!

5 POSITIVE AFFIRMATION POSES FOR KIDS

  1. Warrior pose. Try the affirmation, “Stand tall and proud” with this pose.

  2. Tree pose. Try the affirmation, “Sway your branches & stand steady”.

  3. Triangle pose. Try the affirmation, “I can shape a new perspective”.

  4. Star pose. Try the affirmation, “Shine brightly with magic”.

  5. Chair pose. Try the affirmation, “I hold myself high with confidence”.
